First Post!
Here it is my first post. I thought it would be useful to write down my training and my thoughts about it, for the epic ride I'm doing later this year. In case you haven't guessed from the title of the Blog, I'm cycling Lands End to John O'Groats (LEJOG) -
WHY?
Well hopefully because I can.... and..... because I'm 60 this year, and for some mad reason, I thought it would be a good way to celebrate?
So straight into it then; I've been out on my bike today and I've done just over 30 miles of hill climbing in the foothills of the Pennines. Had to get off twice and walk - not a good start, but it is only February!
As I get into this "blogging" lark - I am hoping to let you know marvellous facts like -
- steepest hill climbed (ie percentage incline);
- heart rate whilst climbing steeping hill;
- respiratory rate whilst climbing steepest hill;
- average mph whilst climbing the steepest hill;
- cadence whilst climbing the steepest hill....
Yawn, yawn, lost you already... but this is fascinating stuff, yes really it is. I'm obsessed with the percentage incline of the hills round here and I am about to become obsessed with the percentage incline of the hills in
- Cornwall
- Devon
- The Lake District, and
- Scotland
Oh dear! Just realised I don't know where my cadence "thingy" (technical term) is? I'll have to get my mechanic onto it. (For "mechanic" substitute husband - Geoff).
I also need to document all this so I get it out of my head which will be reeling soon and also so I remember my achievement(s).
Nutrition will also be discussed (as that is another obsession) - but in the meantime its gone 6pm - so it's time for drinky-poo's and nibbles.
